Monsignor John J. Enzler Joins Mount St. Mary's University Board of Trustees

Emmitsburg, MD (03/22/2017) — Monsignor John J. Enzler has joined the Mount St. Mary's University Board of Trustees, effective January 15.

Since July 2011 Enzler has been the president and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, charged with leading an agency that serves tens of thousands of people facing the most pressing human needs in our community each year. A native Washingtonian, Enzler has more than 40 years experience as a priest, leader and advocate serving the needs of the most vulnerable in our community. He has served as pastor at three parishes, including most recently at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Washington, and continues to serve in his role as Vicar of Development for the Archdiocese of Washington.

Enzler has served on the boards of many national and local organizations, such as Providence Hospital, Order of Malta, Christ Child Society and Mount St. Mary's University.

Additionally, Enzler was named Monsignor by Pope John Paul II in 1985, and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Washington in 1973. He earned a master's degree in theology from Mount St. Mary's Seminary, class of 1973, and a bachelor's degree in political science from Loras College, in Dubuque, Iowa, class of 1969.
